Volodymyr Sheremet, PhD.

Dr. Sheremet received his Ph.D. from Institute of Semiconductor Physics National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) in 2010 where he held positions of Junior Researcher (2010), Researcher (2010-2012) and Senior Researcher (2012-2019). He also worked as postdoctoral researcher in Advanced Research Laboratories of Physics Department (2014-2018) and Visiting Researcher (2018-2019) and Postdoctoral Researcher (2019-2022) in UNAM - National Nanotechnology Research Center of Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey).
He joined VCU Electrical and Computer Engineering Department as a Postdoctoral Researcher in 2022.

His primary interests are research and development of semiconductor devices, elements and systems in:

  • Optoelectronics such as IR detectors on the base of HgCdTe and III-V type II superlattices with 2D materials and QDs application and emitters that include wide bandgap semiconductors based LEDs. His contribution to the field of MQW based InGaN/GaN light emitting diodes allowed to take into account current spreading phenomenon, improve passivation for the leakage elimination and stress compensation approach for the high efficient LEDs with staircase electron injectors
  • His contribution centered around microwave electronics also includes extensive study of the metal semiconductor interface properties for GaN, AlN, InN, InP, GaAs, Si and artificial diamond that were implemented for the development and fabrication of Gunn and IMPATT diodes by industrial partners
  • His contribution to the area of colloidal quantum dots based devices include development of color conversion polymer films on the base of phosphor and colloidal quantum dots that were implemented in wide color gamut displays by industrial collaborators

Results of his work are presented in one book, one book chapter, 40 papers, more than 50 conference proceedings. His work was awarded President of Ukraine Prize for Young Scientists and Scholarship of President of Ukraine for young scientists by the National Academy of Science of Ukraine.
