Cost Effective 3D Enriched Urban Mapping
This project will investigate the development of 3D maps from 2D images taken by a small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS).
The system will be based, as much as possible, on open-source image processing libraries such as OpenCV and OpenGL. The algorithms will be designed to be executed on high performance embedded processors onboard the sUAS itself.
The project will also investigate data links that can be used to transmit processed 3D maps and associated metadata to the ground control station for evaluation by human operators.
