WHAT IS iDISPLA?
THE INNOVATION PLATFORM
The Innovative Discovery Science Platform (iDISPLA) was originally started by Dr. Nibir Dhar working with Prof. Erdem Topsakal as an initiative for the Army C5ISR Center Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate for innovation, education, outreach and collaboration. Mr. Ken Spedden joined this initiative and together created a team of entrepreneurs and innovators transforming the iDISPLA model into an innovation platform to serve the Commonwealth of Virginia, the US Army and an aim to expand nationwide. Mr. Melvin Greer, Mr. Ken Spedden and Mr. Bobby Keener in partnership with Dr. Dhar undertook one of the more ambitious and transformative open innovation projects in the United States.
The iDISPLA initiative, using a fully functional innovation platform applies new "ideas" that help drive innovation for the Army, the commonwealth, Communities of Interest and ultimately the United States. iDISPLA fosters education, R&D, collaboration and workforce development by connecting, educating and inspiring already available talents, resources and capabilities through a "Discovery Platform".
This unparalleled public-private partnership being led by the innovation team will intelligently connect multiple regional and national ecosystems simultaneously. This will drive both national and international impact in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, and workforce development; and drive social inclusion at unprecedented scales, and innovative distributed problem solving via groundbreaking applications designed to advance the United States key priorities, and advance state of practice for R&D by collecting and aggregating potential solutions through ideation to challenges facing the U.S. Army, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the nation.
